David Gilmour’s long-awaited new album, *Luck and Strange*, marks his first release of original material in nine years. Recorded over five months in Brighton and London, the album was co-produced by Gilmour and Charlie Andrew, known for his work with ALT-J and Marika Hackman. Most of the lyrics were penned by Polly Samson, Gilmour’s longtime collaborator of thirty years.
The album features eight new tracks, alongside a stunning reimagining of The Montgolfier Brothers’ "Between Two Points," which includes vocals and harp by Romany Gilmour, who also provides backing vocals throughout the album.
Contributing musicians include Guy Pratt and Tom Herbert on bass, drummers Adam Betts, Steve Gadd, and Steve DiStanislao, Rob Gentry and Roger Eno on keyboards, with string and choral arrangements by Will Gardner. The title track also includes a special appearance by the late Richard Wright, Pink Floyd’s legendary keyboardist, whose contribution was recorded in 2007 during a ‘Barn Jam’ at Gilmour’s house.
The album’s striking cover art, photographed and designed by the renowned Anton Corbijn, draws inspiration from the lyrics of “Scattered,” the album’s final track, written by Gilmour’s son, Charlie.
This version of "Luck and Strange" is a 1xLP black vinyl edition, featuring a gatefold sleeve and a booklet with photography and design by Anton Corbijn.
